THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES STUDENT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING
The project’s intent was to centralize all key student service functions in a single building to offer the opportunity for “one-stop shopping”, embodying facilities for accounts, records, advisory services, examinations, undergraduate and post graduate recruitment.
The progressive image of the structure was seen as an opportunity for the University to express its new development thrust as it embarked upon a major expansion programme.
The space planning establishes a clear definition between student users and administrative facilities for an open, interactive and efficient organization without any suggestion of an adversarial situation. The spatial composition blurs boundaries internally as well as externally between building and landscape.
